There has never been a better time to love cosplay. The next few months are packed full of movies with unique characters that should inspire some incredible costumes. Here are a few we are most looking forward to:
Shane Black plans to breathe new life into this aging franchise by revisioning the predator aliens into something even bigger and scarier than before. The trophy-hunting aliens have an updated look that features sleeker armor and a helmet that bears a slight resemblance to Darth Vader’s...except warped and monstrous, with dreads.
Peter Jackson returns with an epic science fiction adventure in "Mortal Engines." Based on the novels by Philip Reeve, the movie takes place in a dystopian wasteland that is part steampunk and part "Mad Max."
The character Hester Shaw is featured heavily in the trailer, with a striking red scarf covering the lower half of her face. The scarf hides a shocking scar that could be fun to recreate.
Another potential target for cosplay is Shrike, played by Stephen Lang. While we haven't caught a glimpse of the movie version yet, if he turns out close to his description in the book, it should make for a great, intricate costume.
Alita: Battle Angel
The long-awaited film based on Yukito Kishiro's classic manga, "Battle Angel Alita," is finally heading to theaters. Produced by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez, it features a blend of live action and computer-generated images.
The lead character, Alita, is portrayed by Rosa Salazar through motion capture. She looks like an anime character come to life, with short dark hair and inhumanly large brown eyes. That, plus her cyborg body, should be a nice challenge for cosplayers.
There are other characters with unique designs that are perfect for cosplay, such as Zapan, a cyborg hunter intent on killing Alita.
